Windows File Share (General questions)
Is there a way to tunnel file sharing with Windows 2000/2003/XP with the SSHTunnel?
It appears port 139 is the right port, but it won't bind on XP.
I would like to be able to tunnel: \127.0.0.2sharename

For some reason the backslashes were removed from my message.

I must not have asked my question the right way. You sent me to loopback issues. I just used 127.0.0.2 as an example IP.
Here is my question. Can I Tunnel a Windows File Share? I think it is called a Windows SMB Share.
\\127.0.0.1\\sharename
I would like to be able to use Windows Explorer to copy/share files from one computer to another using the tunnel. I think the sharing port numbers form SMB are 139 and 445. I have not been able to get this to work, but I can't understand why it won't.

Tom,
perhaps I didn't understand your question. 127.0.0.2 still belongs to same interface as 127.0.0.1, and points back to your computer. And, you can bind it on port 139, I've seen few customers doing that without any problems.
On XP I think it's important to have windows patch installed from
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=884020
and after that, just open channel on 139. That should do it.

My question is not about binding the IP to the port.
I simply wanted to know if I could use SSHTunnel to tunnel Windows File Shares? I want to use Windows Explorer to share files over an SSH Tunnel.
I'm sorry I asked. Have a Happy New Year.

Your .NET components allow us to blend .NET technology seamlessly with secure communication, and with excellent technical support.
It was no small factor, however, that your support in getting me up and running made me buy from you.
WeOnlyDo!COM will be the first stop I make should I require any further off-the-shelf components.
We have recently completed a large 1200+ location project where reliable Telnet and SSH connectivity was required. wodSSH worked flawlessly and allowed our staff to complete our project ontime and within budget.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who needs a good quality SFTP solution.
You did a great job on wodSSH and wodSSHServer! I got a lot for very little money. Thanks!
