I would suggest that you set up a Smart Host by specifying your smtp server Hostname. Also, if your smtp server requires authentication you should set Login/Password Properties accordingly.
You can try the 4. Use 'smarthost' VB sample. However, remember that some servers require you to Authenticate in order to send e-mail. If that is the case, you should set Login/Password and the appropriate Authentication Method.
